Raised Bungalow

June 25, 2007 by sachinskg

Raised bungalow is a bungalow with the basic floor level raised above ground in some measure, with the objective of being able to position windows in the basement above ground and thus allow additional light into the basement. A raised bungalow usually has a large entrance hall at ground level that is midway between the raised floor and the basement, thus by design providing for a high ceiling to the entrance hall without raising the roof or provisioning for a skylight. The garage is typically in the basement. The raised basement level coupled with the naturally receding gradient away from the house facilitates a gradually inclining driveway.
